It’s National Farmers Market Week!

What better way to celebrate than by spotlighting our amazing partner, First Fruits Farm? With their help, Let’s Eat, Inc. is bringing fresh produce to Baltimore’s underserved communities and making a real difference in people’s lives. Let’s dig in (pun intended) and see how First Fruits Farm is helping us spread the love and veggies!

The Story of First Fruits Farm

Back in 1998, the Bernstein family traded city life for the charm of a farm in northern Baltimore County. With a vision to make a positive impact, they decided to grow crops with the help of enthusiastic volunteers and donate the harvest to organizations supporting those in need. What started as a dream became a reality, thanks to Hereford United Methodist Church, which supported the farm until 2004, when First Fruits Farm became a full-fledged nonprofit.

A rainbow over rolling farmland

Fast forward to 2019, and after lots of prayers and help from generous benefactors, First Fruits Farm found its new home on Middletown Road in Freeland, with a sprawling 203 acres of land. And guess what? They didn’t stop there! In 2023, they added a neighboring 78-acre farm, bringing their total to 281 acres. This expansion means even more room to “Grow More, Give More, Serve More” in the spirit of community love.

First Fruits Farm’s story has captured hearts and headlines alike, with plenty of media coverage and accolades along the way. But through it all, the Bernsteins credit their success to faith and the incredible support of volunteers who keep the farm thriving.
